Mountain East Rallies Past Mountain West, 11- 8

Mountain East erased a three-run deficit with a
six-run seventh inning and defeated Mountain West
11-8 on Tuesday night at Clint Lightner Field.Mountain East built an early 4-0 advantage, scoring once in the first inning, twice in the second and once in the third. Trent Lowe drove in the game's first run with a groundout and later added a solo home run in the third inning.
Mountain West answered with two runs in the fourth before exploding for five runs in the fifth to take a 7-4 lead. Keelen Sloan and Nick Chittum each delivered RBI singles in the fourth. In the fifth, Alex Elliott, Ryan Drag, Sloan and Chittum drove in runs, while Wyatt Morgan added a sacrifice fly.
Tommy Ramos pulled Mountain East within 7-5 with a solo home run in the sixth. Mountain East then took control in the bottom of the seventh. Ramos singled home Ivan Santos, Michael Doerr tied the game with an RBI single, Taylor Steig followed with a two-run single, and Santos capped the six- run rally with a two-run single for an 11-7 lead.
Mountain West scored its final run in the eighth when Thor Sanchez grounded out to bring home Michael Acosta, but Lucas Smith struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth to finish the victory.
Ramos went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored for Mountain East. Santos also had two hits and two RBIs, while Steig drove in two runs. Lowe homered and drove in two runs as Mountain East finished with 13 hits.
Sloan led Mountain West by going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Chittum contributed three hits and two RBIs, while Connor Hickey recorded the team's only extra-base hit with a double.
Mountain East's bullpen held Mountain West hitless over the final four innings. Mountain West finished with eight runs on 10 hits and one error, while Mountain East scored 11 runs on 13 hits and played error-free defense.
