The Roswell Invaders release their
The Roswell Invaders release their 2013 Schedule which will be their 3rd year of play in the Pecos League. The Full schedule is viewable at http://www.RoswellInvaders.com
In 2011 The Invaders were Pecos League Champions winning the attendence title, regular season and post season titles under manager Chris Paterson. The Invaders are looking to return to 2011 form and will begin the 2013 season exactly as they began the 2011 one. With the Exhibition Opener in El Paso against the El Paso Diablos. The Invaders will then begin the regular season hosting the Las Vegas Train Robbers for a 5 game series. This will be the Train Robbers first ever games. The Invaders then play two game home and home series with the White Sands Pupfish, Las Cruces Vaqueros and Pecos Bills.
The Invaders then go into June by hosting the Las Cruces Vaqueros for a 4 game series. The Invaders then host the Taos Blizzard for a three game series. The Invaders make their lone trip to the Tundra in Taos to play the Taos Blizzard a single game on Friday June 7th. The Invaders continue with four game road trips in Santa Fe and Trinidad. The Invaders return home to host the Las Cruces Vaqueros for four games and then host the Pecos Bills for two games. The Invaders goto Pecos for two games and while in Texas they will sweep down and play the Alpine Cowboys a four game series. Las Vegas and the Invaders will play a seven game series with the first four games in Roswell and the final three in Las Vegas.
The Invaders begin the month of July hosting Darrell Carrillo"s New Mexico School of Baseball College Team in an exhibition game, before heading to Las Vegas to play the Train Robbers.
On July 6th several Invaders will participate in the All Star Game. After the All-Star Game the Invaders will host the Pecos Bills for two games in Roswell before going to Texas to play the Bills two games and Alpine Cowboys two games. The Invaders then host Alpine two games and host Las Cruces Two games before going to Las Cruces for two games. The Invaders finish the season by splitting two game series with Pecos and Alpine home and home with another four game trip to Texas playing each two twice.
"This schedule format is in the economic interest of the Pecos Bills and Roswell Invaders due their hotel situation. The oilfield is booming and hotel prices are out of control. Last year we had to move games out of Roswell and that won"t be the case this year." says Pecos League Commissioner Andrew Dunn
The home and home two game format became standard for Roswell in 2011 with White Sands. In 2013 this saves 11 hotel nights for the Invaders which guarantees games won"t be moved in July as they were in 2012. The addition of the Pecos Bills makes this format possible. Pecos is only 162 miles away from Roswell directly on Highway 285.
Here is a breakdown of the Invaders Schedule

The Pecos League will continue exhibition games with the New Mexico School of Baseball. The Las Cruces based team is in its 10th year and now has players from all over the entire state of New Mexico. "Playing against the Pecos League in Exhibition Games in their home towns is a challange and a dream for our players. It is the highlight of our season." says New Mexico School of Baseball Head Coach and president Darrell Carillo.
The New Mexico School of Baseball Team will not play in Colorado or Texas only against the six New Mexico Teams. They will play each of the six teams two games each on their off days. Including for the first time a game at historic Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe. They will also play two day games in Taos. Several New Mexico School of Baseball College Players have went on to play in the Pecos League after their college careers were over.
The Series with the New Mexico School of Baseball started in 2010 when the Las Cruces Vaqueros played two games against the New Mexico College League in front of sold out crowds in Apodoca Park.
"It is very hard for Darrell to find opponents to play for his team and these ten games will help him alot. It gives our teams a chance to evaulate players in games that don"t count in standings. It is great for New Mexico Baseball all the way around. They have beaten our teams twice before and our fans enjoy the games."

The Pecos League schedule is set to
The Pecos League schedule is set to be released on November 15th and fans in Reeves County Texas are excited at the possibility of having a team play in the Martinez Sports Complex on I-20 and Highway 285 in Pecos. Reeves County is in process of improving lighting, moving the outfield fence and replanting grass to have a team for the 2013 Season. The Pecos Bills would be in the Pecos League"s Southern Division and would go head to head with their neighbors to the South the Alpine Cowboys and their neighbors to the North the Roswell Invaders. A large oilfield man camp is being built by Targa Logisitics that could hold 500 oilfield workers. Andrew Dunn has attempted to land in Pecos Texas since the inception of the Pecos League in 2010. 2013 may finally be the time for Pecos to play ball. This charge was for baseball is being lead by Rojelio Alvarado who is Reeves County Commisioner Precinct 1. The original contractor who installed the lighting has been found and there is a plan in place to move the light poles and add additional fixtures. The light level will be improved to a minimum professional standard. Commisioner"s Court has addressed funding needed to make the changes to the lights. Commisioner"s Court on November 12th will approve Pecos League Schedule. Gone will be the skinned infield, it will be replaced by natural grass. Gone will be the perimeter fence that made Martinez Park a youth/softball field. Martinez Park will return to its original configuration which is 345/410/325 in the lowest elevation in the Pecos League. The issues can be resolved to clear the way for the Bills to take the team in 2013.

The Pecos League is expanding for the 2013 season. With the additions of Taos New Mexico, and Las Vegas New Mexico the Pecos League will play with eight teams in 2013. Despite expansion the league will continue to recruit better players and expects to have a better product on the field in the 2013 season. Below is information about the three new cities:
Taos New Mexico-Taos Blizzard- Taos is located one hour north of Santa Fe and will be an immediate rival of Santa Fe. The Taos Blizzard will get their players from the New York State League. Jay Acton will serve as director of player procurement for this team. He will send very competitive players down to play for the Taos Blizzard. Taos nearly had a team in the Pecos League in 2012 but 2013 will mark the first season for the Pecos League in Taos. Taos will play in the Northern Division.
Las Vegas New Mexico- Las Vegas Train Robbers- Las Vegas is the perfect location for a Pecos League Team. Located one hour from Taos, one hour from Santa Fe and ninety minutes from Trinidad, Vegas would be the hub of the Northern Division. Vegas would play at Luna CC"s City Owned ballpark.
Raton, New Mexico is 21 miles from Trinidad on the New Mexico side of the I-25 Border. Raton features a great ballpark and will be great location for the Pecos League.

The Pecos League is still in its infant stages of existence. Only two years have taken place since its inaugural season, but one team has begun to consistently stand out above the rest.
The Alpine Cowboys, led by manager Ryan Stevens are quickly becoming the powerhouse organization in a league that continues to send players to higher levels of professional baseball. In the two years since the league first formed, the Cowboys have reached the playoffs both years and most recently won the Pecos League Championship. Not to mention they won the Continental League Championship the year before joining the Pecos League.
In a league that quite possibly has the quickest turnover of players from season to season of any league in professional baseball, the feat becomes all that more impressive. Most players that participate in the Pecos League are looking to use it as a springboard to a higher level of play, which causes the high turnover. To have consistent success year after year when the majority of the players from any team change more often then the average person changes their clothes

The Pecos League held their first of three nationwide tryout camps in Houston Texas on October 6, 2012.
There were several players that will be invited to Spring Training and several players that will be signed by teams.
The Pecos League is in process of attempting to expand to eight teams which means more openings for players..
The camp was run by Andrew Dunn and JD Droddy and featured 29 participants.
The other tryout camps will be November 10th in Phoenix Arizona and December 1 in Atlanta Georgia.

The Pecos League will remove the the DH in the 2013 season. The Pecos League did not have a DH in the first half of the 2011 season. The DH was inserted in the halfway point of the 2011 and the entire 2012 season. The removal of the DH allows for pitchers to hit and lower scoring games in high altitudes.
In baseball, the designated hitter rule is the common name for Major League Baseball Rule 6.10,[1] an official position adopted by the American League in 1973 that allows teams to designate a player, known as the designated hitter (abbreviated DH), to bat in place of the pitcher each time he would otherwise come to home plate, rather than letting the pitcher bat. Since then, most collegiate, amateur, and professional leagues have adopted the rule or some variant; MLB"s National League and Nippon Professional Baseball"s Central League are the most prominent professional leagues that do not use a designated hitter.
Composite Bats will not be legal fo
Composite Bats will not be legal for the 2013 season. Both Max Bat and Rawlings are in process of structuring a bat deal for players in the Pecos League. Allowing Composite Bats was a financial advantage for players who couldn"t afford bats and teams who couldn"t afford to provide bats to the players. The Pecos League is promoting alot of players and players are at a major disadvantage after hitting with composite bats all summer.
The Pecos League will allow players to hit with wood, ash or birch from the registered bat sponsors of the league.

Katelyn Culverson has landed a position with the Minnesota Twins. In 2012 she was the assistant general manager for the Las Cruces Vaqueros. Katelyn will be working in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area as New Business Development Representative at Minnesota Twins.
Katelyn was instrumental in turning the Vaqueros around in 2012 along with field manager Casey Dill.
Katelyn is the second staff member in two years to get promoted from the Vaqueros to a Major League Organization joining Alyssa Gintant who joined the Baltimore Orioles
The Pecos League received calls on
The Pecos League received calls on Wednesday with confusion of how the AAA team in El Paso effects the league.
It is beginning to look like the Tucson Padres are moving to El Paso for sure.
Whether they actually tear down city hall to build a new ballpark within one mile of the Juarez Border is yet to be know.
Let"s assume that the Tucson Padres are moving to the Sun City in 2014.
The major aspect that will hurt the Pecos League is the fact the El Paso Diablos will no longer be in existance.
The Diablos have been the biggest supporters of the Pecos League and the Las Cruces Vaqueros from day one.
The Diablos and their staff have used the Pecos League to their advantage with free opponents during Spring Training.
The first ever Pecos League game was played between Roswell and El Paso. Las Cruces, Trinidad and White Sands have all played the Diablos in preseason exhibtions.
Every year the Pecos League has sent the Diablos at least 10 players and when visiting teams from the American Association are leaking and need players the Pecos League has been a convenient source for them to get players.
The Diablos even hired a coach out of the Pecos League in 2012. At least four times the Diablos have called for emergency pitchers or players to fill injury spots. It has been good experience for the players to get to go and play with Diablos for one or two games and see American Association action first hand.
This will no longer be viable. The Pecos League just became a bit more isolated from other higher level independent leagues which could mean less exposure for players trying to get picked up.
The annual Vaqueros/Alpine Cowboys doubleheader in Cohen Stadium will likely cease after the 2013 season. The game was very popular with players and saved both teams on travel.
According to all sources there will no Independent Baseball in El Paso when the Padres move in.
There had been talk of the Diablos joining the Pecos League in 2014-2015 as their lease in Cohen Stadium ends in 2015.
The City of El Paso is unlikely to allow that to happen with the huge financial committment they are making and the fact that they are getting AAA Baseball.
It is very possible that there will be an attendence reduction in Las Cruces for Vaqueros Fans.
Las Cruces has some true blue die hard baseball fans that would love to get behind a AAA team.
The drive to Cruces is very easy and those fans used to flock to Cohen Stadium regularly before the Vaqueros were around.
Alpine/Roswell/Alamogordo will unlikely feel the effects of attendence reduction and could attempt to give away promotional tickets for the team.
The Pecos Soccer League is on hold until the Diablos figure out exactly what is going to happen over the next few weeks, It was scheduled to start back in late October but might be pushed back into December
Affliated Baseball in a brand new state of the art stadium is going to be a huge attraction in their first year.
We hope fans will continue to support the Vaqueros and Pupfish as well as the Padres similar to the way fans support the
Isotopes/Fuego and Sky Sox/Triggers in the Northern Region of our league. The Isotopes have been very supportive to the Fuego because their staff realizes the Pecos League isn"t competition at all.
It is two totally different brands of baseball. You are dealing with guys in AAA that have major league service time that are bouncing back and forth. In the Pecos League you are dealing with guys that are rookies trying to get into low A affliated baseball.
A goal for the Pecos League would be to get one of its players in AAA on one of the rosters by the 2014 season and play a game in El Paso in the Pacific Coast League against the Padres. Then it would give the fans another reason to go and see the new ballpark. 2014 might be a long shot but 2015 could be a reality. Brandon Sisk from the Omaha Storm Chasers pitched in the Continental Baseball League for the Bay Area Toros in 2007-2008 and has made a AAA roster for two years in a row.
The Pecos League will support whatever baseball is played in El Paso.

With teams in Las Cruces, White Sands (Alamogordo),Roswell, and Santa Fe New Mexico, Trinidad and Pueblo Colorado, and Alpine and Pecos Texas, how should the Pecos league break them up into a Northern and Southern Division? Should it be based on length of travel, natural ravels, or even an estimated power ranking? That is the question facing Andrew Dunn and the Pecos League.
If it was up to me, I would look at travel and rivals. Based on that, the Southern Division would be Las Cruces, White Sands, Alpine, and Pecos and the Northern Division would be made up of Roswell, Trinidad, Santa Fe, and Pueblo West. Now let me explain how I put these teams together.
The Southern Division was easy and fit together naturally. It has three different sets of rivalries. Due to approximate to each other Las Cruces and White Sands, and Pecos and Alpine make up two sets of rivals, plus Las Cruces and Alpine are rivals from back before the Pecos League. From a travel and scheduling point of view Southern Conference would be easy to setup. Let me give you an example. Las Cruces would travel to Alpine for 5 game

The Pecos League will use Zephyr Hats across the league in 2013. Zephyr Hats is based in Loveland, Colorado. The Pecos League has two Colorado teams, Pueblo West and Trinidad. Zephyr Hats are the official hats for the American Association and the Can Am League as well as the NHL and NCAA. The Pecos League has really unique designs and logos for 2013. Zephyr Hats design team is the best in the business, there is no color or logo they can"t create. This includes goes from the very simple hats like Alpine to the all lime green hat with aliens and space ships that Roswell will wear in 2013. Zephyr also has the capability to create pinwheel hats for Pueblo West. These hats will be available for purchase through PecosLeague.com and individual team websites beginning in November. In 2012 Santa Fe and Trinidad used Zephyr. The other teams used Pitbull. All teams will have their state flag on the back of the hat.

HOUSTON — It was a tough night for the Sea Lions Thursday, as despite getting back a strong starting pitcher, the Apollos countered with a strong starter and reliever, taking a 13-1 victory over the Galveston squad.
“We had great pitching with Brett (Kinle) for five innings,” said Houston manager Andrew Dunn. “Pitched great for us and kept us in the game. We were up 4-0 then we broke it open late. They had great pitching. Great game. We hit well. We played well and they just fell apart. The wheels fell off the wagon, straight down the hill.”
That, said Lions manager J.D. Droddy, was because they ran out of pitching.
“Yeah, we ran out of pitching. I knew we’d run out of pitching tonight. Brian Hicks came back. Pitched well. We had a couple of errors. We did the best we could. At the end of the day, it’s like (Gears manger) Bill Moore says, it is what it is.”
The Apollos went up 2-0 in the first off HIcks, scoring when Matt Hunt singled, stole second then came home on a singl

Chris Schmidt, Justin Lowery, Ryan Stevens, Chris Paterson and Bill Moore are coming back for 2013 season. The league has the other three positions filled once teams are finalized. We would like to have teams, schedules and managers in place on or before November 15. "We are looking to hire better managers, better umpires, sign better players and have a better league for 2013." says Pecos League commisioner Andrew Dunn. "It all starts with the field managers, at this level they have so much power. We are really glad to have those five guys back with us. I also believe the three new guys will be great. They will quickly learn altitude baseball. Hopefully we finalize the league schedule soon."

The final 2013 season schedule will be released sooner than later this year with two new teams joining the Pecos League. The final release date should be on or before November 15, 2012. The league continues to improve on and off the field every year, and 2013 will be no different. Having eight teams in the league with two divisions makes scheduling a breeze as compared to six teams which always has problems.
changes to the schedule will be as follows:
Spring Training will begin May 5-May 8 depending on the teams
The regular season will begin May 15th which gives teams an extra week to sign pitchers and finalize their rosters. The extra week makes a big difference as players become available. This cuts down on the number of early transactions that some teams went through in 2011 and 2012.
The last day of regular season will be July 27. This allows playoffs to start July 29 and the Championship Series could be completed as earlier as August 2. This gives players a chance to finish the season in higher leagues as around 29 players did in 2011 and around 34 players are doing now in 2012.
There will only be 4 off days. In 2012 the Santa Fe Fuego had 15 off days and played 70 games.
The league will have a balanced schedule of opponents. All teams from the Northern Division will play all teams in the Southern Divison 32 times (8 home and 8 road in 4 games series). Teams within their division will play one team 16 times, one team 12 times and one team 10 times. All series except two will be four game series.
The league will not have a balanced schedule of home and away games. The base schedule of 35 home games and 35 road games will stay close to true for Alpine and Trinidad but could vary for Pueblo West, Las Cruces, Roswell and Santa Fe depending on stadium capacity and projected attendence. Pueblo West has requested not to have a full schedule inaugural year. Las Cruces also limits the number of consecutive games that can be at Apodoca Park. Santa Fe must leave open dates for AABC to play as well.
On the last day of a series before either team has to travel out of division games will be moved up.
The league will use these dates as dates for kids to attend games, as Alamogordo has mastered so well over the last two years. When Pueblo West plays Alpine the 667 mile journey will be the longest ever in Pecos League history. The last game of each series that isn"t followed by an off day will start at 1 PM Mountain Time or Earlier.
The 7th and 8th teams are still uncertain. There are up to seven cities that want in the Pecos League for 2013 but only one slot remains. The final alignment of divisions could only be determined after final teams are set.
The All Star Game will remain July 8th. Location is TBD, due to distances the only teams with possiblity of All Star Game are Santa Fe, Roswell, Alamogordo and Las Cruces.

Pupfish fans have more to be excite
Pupfish fans have more to be excited about. In addition to their new logo and new uniforms they are getting a new coach. Justin Lowery is named head coach of the White Sands Pupfish for the 2013 season.
Justin is from Newnan,Georgia and was the assistant coach for the White Sands Pupfish in their 2011 season.
In 2012 Justin was the inaugural manager for the first half of the year for the Trinidad Triggers. He guided his team the second best record in the league and assembled a top notch club. The Triggers would up making the playoffs. Justin is very popular in Alamogordo and will be a good fit to build a team that fans can get excited about. He will be hosting tryout camps in Atlanta, Florida and Phoenix. He will also be coaching in the Pecos Spring League in Houston. JD Droddy will not join Justin in his hometown of Alamogordo, he will stay with the Trinidad Triggers. "Justin learned alot in 2012 and will be a perfect match for Alamogordo and the Pupfish for 2013. Expect the Pupfish to have an immediate turnaround." says Andrew Dunn of the Pecos League. Spring Training starts May 2013 in Alamogordo. The Pupfish open the 2013 season in Las Cruces.

The Pecos League has recently completed another successful year and more cities within the region are attempting to get their city to host a Pecos League Team.
The Pecos League will likely go with eight teams in 2013. This will actually be very helpful to teams in terms of travel. The Southern Division will consist of Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Roswell and Alpine. The Northern Division will consist of Trinidad, Santa Fe and two expansion teams.
Pueblo, Farmington, Lubbock, Pecos Texas, and Taos have highest chances of getting in the league.
It is still possible Roswell could wind up in the Northern Division. The Pecos League wants a final schedule in the month of October.
Pecos League settles numbers off th
Pecos League settles numbers off the field. The 2012 season is complete and with any independent league there were highs and lows below is the report of 2012 Pecos League Teams.
1. Santa Fe Fuego-The Pecos League took a huge chance by moving into Santa Fe and playing at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe had never had a Professional Baseball team and Fort Marcy Park was not thought of as a professional park. This quickly changed in November 2011 when a The Pecos League won a heated City Council vote to sell alcohol in Fort Marcy Park. From that day forward Fuego Nation was born. Fans loved their Fuego and seeing high quality baseball at Fort Marcy Park. The fact the Fuego lost 2/3 of its games didn"t matter the Fuego lead the league in attendence and all offensive categories. The 7000 foot elevation and short fences at Fort Marcy Park made the games extremely exciting. The Fuego are now a fixture in the Pecos League after one year of playing the only people that disagree are the pitchers who have to pitch there. They also had a great group of staff that helped run the team.
2. Las Cruces Vaqueros-The Las Cruces Vaqueros had a great bounceback year from 2011. The team finished in 2nd place in the standings and scored alot of runs. Fans quickly realized this and the Vaqueros more than doubled attendence of 2011. The renovations to the bleachers at Apodoca Park helped. The new coaching staff and new players helped even more. Vaqueros fans are excited and energized for the 2013 season and beyond. Apodoca Park is the New Mexico Gem of the Pecos League. The City of Las Cruces has made Apodoca Park very affordable and viable for the Pecos League. The change in off the field staff helped as well.
3. Alpine Cowboys-The Alpine Cowboys had another solid year in the Pecos League. They had some struggles with two week road trips to Santa Fe and Trinidad, but they finished in first place and the only complaints their fans had was the team was on the road too much. The Alpine Cowboys organization finally got a viable lease with Sul Ross State and the City of Alpine to use and maintain Kokernot Park.
4. Trinidad Triggers-Trigger time was born in Colorado as the Pecos League moved to Trinidad Colorado. The Triggers had great support in their inaugural year despite complete turnmoil within the City of Trinidad. The Pecos League"s agreement to move to Trinidad was made between Andrew Dunn and City Manager Ed Gil De Rubio in 2011. Gil De Rubio was ousted out of office and things were crazy from that point forward. Justin Lowery was removed as field manager halfway through the season. Assistant Operations Manager Tom Davis was removed near the end of the season. Despite losing these three key people the Triggers made the playoffs and have a favorable lease to play in Central Park. Local fans loved the Pecos League and the Triggers. The Triggers had huge crowds for opening night and the fourth of July.
5. White Sands Pupfish-The Pupfish had a terrible year on the field and it reflected with the attendence.
The Pupfish failed to make the playoffs and the players had little interaction with the community. This combination proved fatal for the Pupfish in 2012 but will be improved for 2013. Despite this the Pupfish have a great deal in Alamogordo and the Pupfish will be a permanant fixture in the Pecos League. The Pecos League has a three year commitment to stay in Alamogordo and the City of Alamogordo is one of the top supporters of the Pecos League. The team will goto their desert camo look for 2013 and bring in a new staff. The Pupfish will have a rebound year for sure in 2013.
6. Roswell Invaders-To say the Roswell Invaders were a dispointment would be a huge understatement. The Invaders were the model franchise in 2011 winning the Championship and leading the league in attendence. 2012 was a disaster from the rainout opening day. Three days later the Coaching Staff and the General Manager had a standoff and the team was left with no general manager. The loyal fans from 2011 turned on the team immediately.
Attendence immediately plummeted. The 2nd general manager resigned after working only two weeks. She could not get things organized mid season and could not work with staff or team that was there. The Invaders Organzation lost alot of credibility which was established in 2011 almost overnight. Things quickly spiraled when the Host Hotel Frontier Motel nearly doubled their rates mid season.
The Pecos League attempted to move all games out of Roswell for rest of season and began to have series questions about the viablity of Roswell to support a team.
The loyal Invaders were left confused and mad at league. The lease with the City of Roswell and the Pecos League will not work at Joe Bauman Park so the Invaders are currently in need of two basic things for the 2013 season a place to play and a place to stay. A lease from either NMMI or the City that will allow the Invaders to be comparable to the other Pecos League Teams. A deal with a host hotel that is comparable to other cities in the Pecos League. The Pecos League is committed to attempt to bring in new staff to run the team and to try to get the Invaders back to their status of 2011.
Sonoma County Grapes 8 defeats San Rafael Pacifics 1 behind Dustin Crenshaw
Steve Rinaudo hit a three inside the park home run that ricocheted off of the Brick Wall in Alpine. Trevor Whyte hit a three run homer in the 9th to break the game open. Whyte also scored four runs. Nacho Ochoa went 2-3 for Alpine with 2 doubles. Chris Welborn did not get out the 2nd inning allowing 8 runs on 7 hits. The Las Cruces Vaqueros beat the Alpine Cowboys 12-5 to send the series to game three.
The Vaqueros got a solid start from Chris Peacock which pitch 7 2/3 innings allowing only 4 runs.
Alfonso Cardenas struck out the side in the 9th to end the game for the Vaqueros.
George Ban helps the Sonoma County Grapes down the 5-4
The Alpine Cowboys beat the Las Cruces Vaqueros with three swings of the bat.
The big blow was Joel Carranzas three run homer off Derek Johnson in the 7th to tie the game 4-4.
The Cowboys then got their power from the least likely source. Eric Herman hit the next pitch out of the park to give the Cowboys the lead in what would hold up for good. Alpines other run came from a solo Home Run by Nacho Ochoa in the 2nd.
The Vaqueros turned four double plays and played well defensively but you cannot defend the long ball.
Alfredo Caballaro came out to get the save in the 9th. Andrew Plotkin and Kevin Johnson each had solid relief appearences for Alpine.

Fans have enjoyed great Alpine Cowboys baseball this season; the team finishing with a 45-24 record and 21 games over .500 by consistently playing the best ball in the 4 years since the Cowboy brand was revived in 2009. One writer on the Pecos League website predicted a 5th place finish. They’ve been left to eat their words; but that meal might not have happened.
The last week of a tight pennant race among the top three teams started with the Cowboys all of 4/1000ths of a point ahead of 2nd place Roswell and about a half point ahead of 3rd place Las Cruces. The lead could have changed several times leaving Alpine in 3rd place without any home field advantage. Added stress occurred due to rain on the 27th, requiring back to back double headers. That wasn’t the result, each contest having significance.
The faithful want to see the Alpine Cowboys name on the league’s 2012 championship trophy and with your help to cheer the Boys to victory, that will be the result when the last play-off out is recorded. Th

The Playoff picture is set with one day to go left in the season. Alpine will host Trinidad in the first round beginning on Thursday Night in Alpine. Las Cruces and Roswell will play at a location still yet to be determined.
Both series will begin at 7PM on Thursday Night in their respective cities. The Alpine Cowboys finished with the leagues best record.

The First Game of Doubleheader between Alpine and Roswell ended in a 6-6 tie that was ruled in a forfeit win for Alpine. Mark Gomez pitched the 7th inning of the game for Roswell. He was not on the lineup card. Alpine manager Ryan Stevens protested that Mark Gomez was not on the lineup card despite pitching the entire 7th inning for Roswell. "Manager Simon Walters either didnt know the rules or tried to be slick. Simon thinks he is smarter than everyone and rules dont apply" says Plate umpire Jared Palladino who ruled the game was a forfeit. This is the first forfeit in the history of the Pecos League. The two teams played the 2nd game of a doubleheader.

The Pecos League is at the 1/2 way point with Roswell Invaders again in first place. The biggest surprise in the league has been the Las Cruces Vaqueros who are 1.5 games out of first place at 20-14. The biggest disapointment has been the White Sands Pupfish who are 15-21 and would not make the playoffs if the season ended today. The Pupfish have really struggled against Alpine and Las Cruces this season. The Pupfish have reloaded their pitching staff and could be prepared to make a strong 2nd half run. Everyone predicted the Santa Fe Fuego would be buried out of contention and they are. They have showed signs that they can compete on given nights, but usually not back to back nights. The Trinidad Triggers are a very interesting team they have a solid lineup a new coach in Ryan Powell but must add pitching to sustain a playoff run. The Alpine Cowboys have been the most consistant team with great pitching, defense and hitting. The Cowboys would be a huge surprise if they didn"t make the playoffs.
Defense and pitching haven"t been well at all in the first half of the season. With the exception of Roswell and Alpine all teams are looking for pitching help at the midway point.
The Trinidad Triggers top the Santa Fe Fuego behind Jason Venya 7-6
As we are approaching the halfway point in the Pecos League it has been a season for momentum and right now the Alpine Cowboys have won seven games in a row, the Roswell Invaders have won five games in a row and the Las Cruces Vaqueros have won three games in a row. These three teams are separated by just one game for first place. At the end of the season the top two teams will host playoff games. White Sands and Trinidad are
On the other hand Trinidad has lost three in a row, White Sands has lost six in a row and Santa Fe has lost six in a row. All three teams that are losing are in process of making overhauls to their rosters. Teams have had heated exchanges with league umpires in past nights forcing the Pecos League to re arrange umpire schedules.
These streaks will collide when Alpine and Roswell square off with each other this weekend. Someone has to win when Santa Fe plays Trinidad a four game series. White Sands and Trinidad are within a game of each other for fourth place and one of the two teams will make the playoffs. Santa Fe could get hot and challange for fourth place as well.

SS Jordan Marks was traded from White Sands Pupfish to Grand Prarie Airhogs.

The White Sands Pupfish have Jordan Stouffer to the Normal Cornbelters of the Frontier League for a player to be named later. Chris Paterson and Chad Parker have finalized the deal. Normal was looking to get a power hitting first baseman before their upcoming extended road trip. Stouffer was easily one of the three best hitters in the Pecos League. Jordan Stouffer in 16 games he hit .453 with 4 home runs and helped power the Pupfish to a seven game winning streak.

5/30/2012-Attendence/Merchandise Ranking
The Pecos League has completed the month of May and has the following merchandise attendence rankings
The Invaders dealt with rain and a turnover in local staff so attendence plummeted. Attendance is up drastically across the league.
With the removal of Ruidoso and Carlsbad and addition of Santa Fe and Trinidad numbers are in much better shape than 2011.
Despite being in last place in the league The Santa Fe Fuego actually outsold the Roswell Invaders in merchandise sales both on the Internet and at the games. Their Black and Red look has become overwelming popular throughout the entire region of the Pecos League.

5/27/2012-The Pecos League has received many questions as to why so many runs are being scored in their games this year. Many people immediately assume the problem is the lack of pitching in the Pecos League. Others have complained about the umpiring being too tight. But if you look closely the pitching and hitting in the Pecos League is better right now than it was in 2011. The scientific answer to why so many runs are being scored is real simple. In the off season of 2012 The Pecos League came to an agreement to use a Rawlings Baseball. In 2011 the league used Pro Nine Baseballs. The Rawlings Baseball the Pecos League is using has a much better cushioned cork center, tighter laces and better winding than a Pro Nine Ball. "These balls really fly, there is a big difference this year." says Trinidad Field manager Justin Lowery.
Lowery"s team is one of many teams that have played in Las Cruces this year where the Vaqueros have completely bombed teams with huge innings
loaded with consecutive extra base hits. Santa Fe is also a complete launching pad with 7000 foot elevation and short fences. Roswell has the
lowest altitude and the deadest air in the league at 3600 feet. Fans can easily see the Invaders are averaging 5 runs a game at home and 13 runs
a game on the run.
Wes Kartch helps the Roswell Invaders down the Alpine Cowboys
5/24/2012-The Santa Fe Fuego hit another historic milestone on thursday night when beer was sold at Fort Marcy Park. A beer garden was setup by
Santa Fe Brewery and fans enjoyed a quality high scoring baseball game between the Santa Fe Fuego and the White Sands Pupfish. Fans were limited
to three 12 ounce cans and were carded and given wristbands. It was a great experience for fans to have a pro baseball team in Fort Marcy Park
with Beer. The Pecos League and the Santa Fe Fuego ran into huge opposition when they first arrived in Santa Fe. The majority of the opposition came from beer sales at Fort Marcy Park.

Matt Lynn Assistant Manager for Alpine will suspended for tonights game in Trinidad.
Chunk Sarnak Assistant Manager for the Santa Fe Fuego will be suspended for tonights game against White Sands.
Santa Fe Manager Bill Moore"s comment to the league was as follows: "I am having problems with my announcer but if I had my choice I will keep my announcer and replace these umpires."
Alpine plays at Trinidad tonight at 7MST, White Sands plays at Santa Fe tonight at 6MST.
White Sands Pupfish 16 defeats Santa Fe Fuego 10 behind Victor Gonzalez
5/26/2012-The Las Cruces Vaqueros were hammered 21-4 on Saturday Night by the Roswell Invaders. Vaqueros announcer Steve Sitter was called from
the press box to pitch the 5th and 6th inning for the Vaqueros. Sitter was an All American Division II pitcher who arrived in Las Cruces with intentions of being used in the bullpen. He did not make the team in Spring Training and instead of leaving he applied for the announcer"s
position. He was a Broadcast Journalism Major and got the job. He has been announcing all of the Vaqueros games this season. For the 2nd night in a row the Vaqueros starters got hammered leaving huge holes in the bullpen. Sitter allowed one earned run and was the only Vaqueros pitcher to throw a scoreless inning. It was the only thing Vaqueros fans had to cheer about on the evening. After Sitter was removed from the game he resumed his announcing in the press box. The Vaqueros have acquired Derek Johnson from the Gary Railcats of the American Association. The
Vaqueros are still in process of improving their pitching staff. Roswell"s Nate Johnson had no problems pitching 8 innings allowing only three runs.

Opening Night was rained out and the team had a low turnout due to rain storms that hit Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Santa Fe had their Friday Night Game rained out. White Sands home opener was faced with 40 mph winds and screaming rain that held off long enough for the Pupfish to get their game in. Amazingly the Pupfish still had 200+ fans show up to show strong support.

Spring Training Updates from the Pecos League.
The Trinidad Triggers opened camp on 4/30/2012 with large attendence and support. Their ballpark is in good shape as TSJC is completing their season.
Justin Lowery and JD Droddy welcomed their first ever Spring Training camp. The Triggers are being lead offensively in scrimmages by Andrew Riddick, Chris Wakefield and Rob Hermann.
Luis Pardo, Miguel Hernandez and Evan Ellison. The extreme cold weather has shocked many of the east coast players with temps dropping into the 40"s in the night.
The Roswell Invaders opened their season with a huge tailgate party and had a strong showing from players. The City of Roswell has installed netting to prevent faul balls from leaving.
"We are learning the lay of the land says coach Simon Walters.
The Las Cruces Vaqueros have had a mixed start to Spring Training, Casey Dill"s team is coming together well. The City of Las Cruces has decided not to allow the Vaqueros to use their game field during Spring Training. One of the players wore Spikes on the field and this is against City Policy for practices.
This put the Vaqueros at a local high school field and makes practicing very tough. "We are in a disadvantage situation and the City does not care, they see the Vaqueros differently then other cities do. It is tough on us trying to get ready for the season."
The Vaqueros and Pupfish scrimmage each other tommorow in Alamogordo.
The White Sands Pupfish are ready to unveil their new state of the art facility. They have reseeded grass, new stands, new scoreboard and new clubhouse.
Players are staying in the new Rite House for Spring Training and camp is going well. Chris Paterson has picked up many of the Yuma Panthers team from the North American League.
The Santa Fe Fuego players have been shocked by the high altitude military training Head Coach Bill Moore is putting them through. He is requiring pitchers to run 3 foul poles for every batter they walk in Spring Training.
The Fuego have two left handed two way stars Evan Kohli, Justin Trejo. Rodney Tafoya has provided leadership and altitude advise for the players just coming to the 7000 foot elevation.
The City of Santa Fe has finally woke up, completely redoing the infield, outfield and mound. The ballpark and team are beginning to come together.
The Alpine Cowboys start May 2.
The 2012 All Star Game will be held in Alamogordo at the home of the White Sands Pupfish. Here is a breakdown of the teams and the managers.
Zias (White Sands, Roswell, Santa Fe)
Field Manager Chris Paterson, Assistant Managers Bill Moore and Simon Walters
Mountaineers (Alpine, Trinidad, Las Cruces) Field Manager Ryan Stevens, Assistant Managers Justin Lowery and Casey Dill.
All teams will wear their regular season uniforms. Their will be a tryout camp and home run derby before the game.
Most baseball leagues donated baseb
Most baseball leagues donated baseballs, bats and bases to the cities which they play in. The Pecos League is taking things a step further in Alamogordo New Mexico the home of the White Sands Pupfish. Pecos League Commisioner Andrew Dunn is donating a 5 foot alligator to the Alameda Zoo in Alamogordo. Every year Dunn and several others drive the equipment needed for the season from Houston Texas to New Mexico. This year the truck will be a little crowded with a 5 foot gator. The Gator will join Rocky another five foot alligator that currently resides in the zoo.
Acquiring a second gator was going to be costly for the city of Alamogordo. The city has recently made a large exhibit in hopes of acquiring a second alligator. The Alligator will come from Port Arthur Texas where gators are considered a nuisance. Dunn and the city of Alamogordo are in process of acquiring a travel permit to cross the gator across the New Mexico State Line. The Gator is set to arrive in Alamogordo on April 28th which is Earth Day in Alamogordo.

The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs is pleased to announce its first umpire crew. The staff will have four full time members that will make up two crews. The staff will have four part time members that will make up the final crew on a rotational basis. The breakdown in staff was perfect for the Pecos League which had top quality umpires in Las Cruces and a good crew in Ruidoso. The full time guys were provided by
Lance Schoenwald who hires umpires for the American Association. These full time umpires could get called up to be rovers in the American Association or replacement umpires. The American Association has teams in Laredo, El Paso and Amarillo.
"This move was the number one need of the Pecos League. We can now promote umpires just like we are promoting players." See Umpires Here

Pecos League 2012 Predictions-Who is going to win?
Well that depends on who you ask. In independent baseball the manager determines alot in if a team is going to win or lose. They are in control of their rosters, the attitudes of the players and the chemistry of the locker room. These are key ingredients with all sports at all levels.
Here are six teams with their scenarios to win and lose and some independent experts of who is going to win the Pecos League this year.
It is tough to pick when teams don"t have their players signed yet. If teams get real good arms early they will often get gobbled up to higher leagues.
White Sands Pupfish- obvious pick to win the league. They have defending champion Chris Paterson as manager, the leagues best travel and probably the leagues best schedule playing Las Cruces the most times. The league will be tougher this year with no travel teams and much further road trips.
Raul Ruiz Alamogordo-"This is our year we have a new coach and a new attitude we will be there in the end"
Benny Alamogordo-"We are going to win, we would have won last year but we lost our entire team in July. This year we will hold on in the end. The coach has to be smarter than last year." Pecos League Fan Claudia Castillo says "Where Paterson goes probably has the best chance"
Papi Mills says "We could have won last year, we have learned and this is our year I can feel it."
Roswell Invaders-defending champions have some returners coming back including Bryson Bell and Brian Ramirez. Their entire new players are from 954/786 South Florida. These players will have a huge cultural adjustment to make to middle of the New Mexico Desert and the isolation of Roswell. First year manager Simon Walters must learn the pro system and what works and what doesn"t work. He is also going to learn his budget limitations in a rookie level league. "We are a city of champions in the Pecos League." says Invaders Fan Mark Hedger "I hate the little green alien and hope to beat them every time I play them" says Justin Lowery manager of Trinidad Triggers. In order for the Invaders to win these South Florida Recruits are going to have to show up, and show up to play. Every team is going to be gunning for them and their lime green alien jerseys every time they square off.
Las Cruces Vaqueros-The Vaqueros have no where to go but up and have a new young eager manager in Casey Dill. "The Vaqueros are the team to win the Pecos League, Casey Dill is getting the exact source of players that Chris Paterson did last year and he will do well and win." says Andrew Starke director of the California Winter League. "We have a new leadership that is going to make a big difference. We are going to be organized from the beginning. The players are going to know what is going on and expectations. As long as Roswell doesn"t win I am ok with it. But I like our chances, I do not like Roswell and I hope for the leagues sake they don"t make the playoffs." says Miguel Salcedo of the Vaqueros. "Casey is working hard on building a team, we got rid of the powder shirts and we are a new ballclub, I feel like 2011 was a disgrace the way things went, but we are not to be taken lightly."
Alpine Cowboys-The Cowboys are loaded up with guys that have 2-3 years of experience and most of Ruidosos pitchers that went to the Championship Series last year. Ryan Stevens is looking for guys that commit for the entire season and then get picked up in August. He has had two guys sign affliated contracts in the last two weeks. The Cowboys had Roswell beat until Ramirez hit a walk off homer and probably would have won the title. "This is our year" says manager Ryan Stevens.
Santa Fe Fuego-The Fuego are an expansion team in a very liberal city that have by far the longest shot to win the title. They have a first year coach and alot of players with no pro experience but they will learn and progress as the season progresses. If they can get into the playoffs anything can happen. They could use the Carlsbad Bats to get their confidence up.
Trinidad Triggers-The Triggers are an expansion team but you can hardly tell that by their roster and coaches. Justin Lowery took everything but the light fixtures with him from White Sands, including booster club President JD Droddy who is the assistant. They have veterans all up and down their roster and not just Pecos League Veterans they have players from the Can-Am League, NAL and Frontier League plus many of Andy May"s top arms. If Lowery can somehow control the ship he could easily be the darkhorse. They will be toughest team to beat at home with brutal travel distance from Southern New Mexico and altitude higher than Ruidoso. "Expect big things from Justin" says Southeast Regional Scout Andrew May. "He has some quality arms that can contribute right away."

The Las Cruces Vaqueros are proud to announce Alyssa Gintant will be joining the Delmarva Shorebirds in the South Atlantic League. The Shorebirds are the A Ball Affliate in the South Atlantic League of the Baltimore Orioles. Alyssa will be the business development executive for the Delmarva Shorebirds Baseball Club.
Alyssa did a great job in the 2011 season for the Vaqueros. She was in charge of promotions and in game entertainment. She also uploaded pictures to the website.
The news for the Vaqueros keeps getting better every day, first year manager Casey Dill is currently in the California Winter League and the City of Las Cruces will have the new grandstands complete by March 15, 2012. The Pecos League will be promoting players, umpires, staff and mascots in the 2012 season.
Pecos Spring League Set to begin March 5th.
Jan 20 2012 12:00AM
The Pecos Spring League will house
The Pecos Spring League will house players at Scottish Inn 11130 Telephone Rd. Houston, Tx 77075
These fees include the following, housing at hotel. Coaches fees, uniforms, helmets. Players are responsible for food, transportation to and from Houston Texas. Players need to bring the following equipment. Gloves, White Pants, Grey Pants, Helmet, Plastic Molded Cleats, Spikes. With the Independent baseball season starting in May 2012, many players are trying to get their foot in the door of Pro Ball with fewer and fewer opportunities. The Pecos Spring League is bringing opportunities to players, coaches and umpires in an event packed month of March. The League has local sponsors so the costs are about 1/2 of the costs of other leagues.
For those that are looking for an additional opportunity, the Pecos Spring League may be the most viable option, the Pecos Spring League is a feeder league for the Full Season Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs. The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs moved more than 40 of its players to higher leagues and gave around 249 players the opportunity to play ball in New Mexico and West Texas.
This season the Pecos Spring League will open its doors to all Independent Leagues and affliated teams who might be searching for players to finalize their roster. The location of the Pecos Spring League is much different than other leagues. It will be located in Houston, Texas. Texas has never had such a developmental league. There are other such leagues that have existed in Arizona and California but this will be a first for the Lone Star State. The Full Season Pecos League will be offering around 30 Spring Training Invites and this gives local Texas Players a huge chance to test the waters for a month with actual Pecos League Coaches. This is an instructional business and is a real opportunity for those players who literally slipped through the cracks and need the chance to play.
The Pecos Spring League is ideal for players that did not get full opportunities at the college level to get exposure and possibly a spring training invite. The League is also ideal for players who are coming off of injuries. The league will begin March 5th and conclude March 28th at Coastal Baseball Park in Houston Texas. Coastal Baseball Park features artificial turf infields to battle Houstons rain.
The Texas Rangers signed Jon Edward
The Texas Rangers signed Jon Edwards to their minor league organization. Edwards pitched two innings for Alpine in their game in Del Rio, Texas vs the Carlsbad Bats. He also pitched for the San Angelo Colts earlier in the season and is a converted outfielder.
