Third-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Alpine Cowboys 8-1


The Alpine Cowboys (31-20) blew out the White Sands Pupfish 8-1 on Thursday at Kokernot Field after pouring on five runs in the third inning.

Robbie Rea had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the third and sixth innings.

Brian Smith picked up the win for the Alpine Cowboys. Smith pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three.

It was a good day at the plate for the White Sands Pupfish (21-29)s Christian Matz. Matz went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.

Justin Kuks was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

The Alpine Cowboys Joel Carranza, Matt Scruggs, Derrick Fox and Rea combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
