3/8/2017-The Houston Apollos defeated the Galveston Sea Lions in the opening game of the Pecos Spring League. The game was dominated by pitching as the Apollos struck out 10 Lions hitters. The Lions struck out 11 Apollos hitters.

For the Lions, Roy Merritt pitched two innings allowing one run. Zech Zinicola pitched 2.1 innings allowing one run. Javier Taylor pitched 1.2 innings allowing one run.

Brian Wiest went 2-3 for the Lions with an RBI and a run scored.

Nick Vehlewald went 2-3 for the Apollos with a huge RBI Triple.

Troy Mannabach pitched 5 innings for the Apollos striking out 9 allowing 2 runs. Bryan Klopped pitched two scoreless innings to get the win for the Apollos.
