Great game from the Santa Fe Fuegos Tavares not enough in 20-17 loss to the Tucson Saguaros

The Santa Fe Fuego (15-42) failed to take advantage of Chris Tavaress effort at the plate on Monday, losing 20-17 to the Tucson Saguaros (43-13) at Fort Marcy Park.

Tavares rocked the Tucson Saguaros with two home runs. Tavares went 2-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Tavares homered in the second and fourth innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 37 runs and 36 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were 16 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

The Santa Fe Fuego couldnt slow down Michael Rampone, who paced the Tucson Saguaros with five hits. He homered in the fourth inning, doubled in the eighth inning, and singled in the first, fifth, and ninth innings.

Tyler Herr pitched lights out for the Tucson Saguaros. Herr held the Santa Fe Fuego hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Wesley Parrish recorded his first win of the year for the Tucson Saguaros. He allowed three runs over one inning. He struck out none, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Nick Minot (0-1) took the loss for the Santa Fe Fuego. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out eight, and allowed five runs.

The Tucson Saguaros hammered the Santa Fe Fuego pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 21 hits, 12 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
