The Garden City Wind third-inning burst enough to top the Great Bend Boom 15-6


The Garden City Wind (28-22) took down the Great Bend Boom (17-31) 15-6 on Thursday at Clint Lightner after slamming the Great Bend Boom with 10 runs in the third inning.

The Garden City Wind scored in the third on , a home run by Beau Welborn, a three-run home run by Eli Roundtree, and a two-run double by Eric Esquilin.

Welborn racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Garden City Wind.

Tevin Padgett was solid at the plate for the Great Bend Boom. Padgett went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth and ninth innings.

Scott Torrey recorded his fifth win of the year for the Garden City Wind. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out six, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Ian Miller ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.
