Early lead gives the Garden City Wind easy victory over the Great Bend Boom 19-7

The Garden City Wind (21-17) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Great Bend Boom (14-23), recording a 19-7 victory on Thursday at Clint Lightner.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Garden City Wind left no doubt about the eventual outcome. A solo home run by Eric Esquilin and an RBI triple by Leon Stimpson in the first inning and a two-run home run by Ryan Cooper, a sacrifice fly by Beau Welborn, and an RBI single by Clay Ardeeser during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Garden City Wind.

Esquilin put himself in scoring position with three extra-base hits for the Garden City Wind.

Chris Gammon pitched lights out for the Garden City Wind. Gammon held the Great Bend Boom hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Tevin Pudgett racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Great Bend Boom. He.

Even though Ryan Riordan allowed seven runs over six innings he still recorded the victory, his third of the season. Riordan struck out one, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Ryan Santhon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in one inning, walked three and struck out none.
