An excellent effort by Anthony Pastrana lifted the White Sands Pupfish (14-24) to a 5-1 win over the Santa Fe Fuego (6-29) on Thursday at Fort Marcy Park.

Pastranas eight strikeouts were enough to push the White Sands Pupfish past the Santa Fe Fuego. Pastrana allowed no earned runs, five hits and four walks over nine innings.

Joe Borowski blasted two home runs for the White Sands Pupfish. Borowski went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Borowski homered in the first and third innings.

The White Sands Pupfish came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Santa Fe Fuego early. The White Sands Pupfish scored in the first on an RBI single by Eric Kalbfliesh, an error, and a two-run home run by Borowski.

Ryan Harper ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked four, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
