Early lead gives the Santa Fe Fuego easy victory over the Alpine Cowboys 13-5

The Santa Fe Fuego (6-25) jumped out to an early lead on the Alpine Cowboys (14-13) and captured a 13-5 victory on Friday at Fort Marcy Park.

Ten runs in the first three innings allowed the Santa Fe Fuego to put the game away early. A two-run double by Chris Tavares and an error during the first inning and a two-run home run by Daniel Muller and a three-run home run by Tavares in the second inning helped the Santa Fe Fuego put some runs on the board early.

Tavares racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Santa Fe Fuego.

Clayton Truex racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Alpine Cowboys. He homered in the fourth inning.

Zack Carter got his first win for the Santa Fe Fuego despite allowing five runs over five innings. Carter struck out four, walked one and gave up seven hits.

AJ McElderry (2-2) took the loss for the Alpine Cowboys. He allowed 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out four.

The Santa Fe Fuego hammered the Alpine Cowboys pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 12 hits, nine RBIs and 10 runs scored.
