The Garden City Wind drop the Trinidad Triggers 10-5 behind Roundtrees early three-run blast

The Garden City Wind (7-9) jumped on the Trinidad Triggers (12-6) early on their way to a 10-5 win on Saturday at Central Park, scoring seven runs in the first inning.

The Garden City Wind scored in the first on a three-run home run by Eli Roundtree, an RBI single by Nick Francis, a two-run single by Eric Esquilin, and an RBI single by Joey Cecere.

Roundtree racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Garden City Wind.

The Trinidad Triggers had no answer for Jonathan Ovalles, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Ovalles held the Trinidad Triggers hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Jason Webb got on base four times in the game for the Trinidad Triggers. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and fifth innings.

Austin Boyle got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked five and surrendered eight hits.

Eric Brothers (1-1) was the games losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked one and struck out four.
