Bishop stars as the Roswell Invaders defeat the Santa Fe Fuego 17-11

Saturday was a great day for Cody Bishop, as he clubbed three home runs to carry the Roswell Invaders (6-3) to a 17-11 victory over the Santa Fe Fuego (2-9) at Fort Marcy Park.

Steven Taft rocked the Roswell Invaders with two home runs. Taft went 3-5 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Taft homered in the fourth and eighth innings.

The two teams combined for 28 runs and 31 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were eight pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

The Roswell Invaders left no doubt in the outcome with eight runs in the second. The Roswell Invaders scored in the second on an RBI single by Lars Liguori, an RBI single by Christian Johnson, a home run by Rene Moreda, and a two-run home run by Bishop.

Liguori got his first win for the Roswell Invaders despite allowing seven runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked five and surrendered nine hits.

Thomas Zarewicz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked three and struck out four.

The Roswell Invaders pounded the Santa Fe Fuego pitching, as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 16 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
