The White Sands Pupfish outdone by Diaz and the Las Cruces Vaqueros 4-2


The Las Cruces Vaqueros (13-31) beat the White Sands Pupfish (26-17) 4-2 in seven innings on Saturday at Apodoca Park behind Alex Diaz, who went 3-3 at the plate.

He singled in the first, third, and sixth innings.

The Las Cruces Vaqueros got the win thanks in large part to Tyler Lequires dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Lequire allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over seven innings.

A bright spot for the White Sands Pupfish in the defeat was Alex Embler, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.

Aaron Nadone racked up two RBIs on one hit for the White Sands Pupfish. He homered in the seventh inning.

Embler couldnt get it done on the mound for the White Sands Pupfish, taking a loss.
