The White Sands Pupfish make the most of 6 hits in 8-6 victory over the Alpine Cowboys

Both the White Sands Pupfish (12-20) and the Alpine Cowboys (26-10) put runners aboard on Monday, but it was the White Sands Pupfish that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-6 win at Kokernot Field.

It was a good day at the plate for the White Sands Pupfishs Yermin Mercedes. Mercedes went 2-4 and scored three runs. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Austin Prott racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Alpine Cowboys. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the third and eighth innings.

Mike Pembleton improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. He allowed three runs over six innings. Pembleton struck out five, walked three and gave up eight hits.

Anthony Figliola ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
