High Desert Yardbirds Defeat California City 13-6

July 6 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the California City Whiptails 13-6 at Adelanto Stadium. High Desert collected 14 hits and overcame a three-run first inning by California City, which finished with eight hits and four errors. The Yardbirds committed one error. High Desert took the lead with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth before breaking the game open with a seven-run sixth inning. The Yardbirds added two runs in the seventh, while California City scored once in each of the fifth sixth and seventh innings. Danny Kerr went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs for High Desert. Kyle Hodgson added two hits and four RBIs, while D. Reddy went 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Tommy Anderson contributed a double and an RBI, and Daniel Gardner had one hit one run and one RBI. Hodgson earned the win after allowing eight hits and six runs in seven innings while striking out 13 and walking two. John Schulz and A. Cartier each threw a scoreless inning in relief and combined for five strikeouts. California City starter Nick Escolera took the loss after giving up nine hits and seven runs in five innings.
