Alpine Cowboys Edge Roswell Invaders 4-3

July 3 2018 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Roswell Invaders 4-3 after scoring all four of their runs in the fifth inning at Kokernot Field. Roswell answered with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth but could not complete the comeback. Alpine finished with six hits while Roswell collected 10.

Jonathan Bigley drove in two runs for Alpine, while Ellington Hopkins added two hits and one RBI. Cam Carney contributed a hit and an RBI, and Caleb Davidson and Lance Myers each scored a run. Roswell catcher Austin Maltby went 3-for-3, and Logan Coughlin added two hits. Jordan Ackerman and Jordan Garr recorded Roswell’s two RBIs.

Carney earned the win after allowing three runs, two earned, on 10 hits over 5.1 innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Ryan Hill recorded the save with 1.2 hitless innings, allowing one walk and striking out three. Roswell starter Carson Corff took the loss after giving up four runs on six hits in five innings with two walks and five strikeouts, while Preston Bailey worked a scoreless sixth inning with two strikeouts.

Alpine’s four-run fifth inning created the decisive margin. The Cowboys committed two errors, but their pitching limited Roswell to three runs and Hill closed out the victory.
