High Desert Yardbirds Rally Past Ruidoso Osos 9-8

June 29 2018 The High Desert Yardbirds rallied past the Ruidoso Osos 9-8 after overcoming a late deficit at Adelanto Stadium. High Desert scored twice in the eighth inning to take the lead after Ruidoso had moved ahead 8-7 with a two-run seventh. The Yardbirds finished with 10 hits while the Osos had seven.

High Desert built an early 4-0 lead with three runs in the second inning and another in the third. Ruidoso answered with six runs in the fifth and added two in the seventh, but the Yardbirds responded with two runs in the eighth to complete the comeback.

Aaron Cook led High Desert with three hits and two RBI. Ronnie Grant hit a home run and drove in two runs, while Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson contributed a triple and an RBI. Steven Longo added a hit and an RBI, and Eric Schneider and B. Harmon each scored twice.

Christian Triplett powered the Ruidoso offense with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. D. Reddy collected two hits, two RBI and two runs, while Nick Wagner had two hits and two RBI. High Desert’s Avery Brandon earned the win with a scoreless ninth inning, and Nick Escalara struck out two in a scoreless inning. Ruidoso starter Zach Youngberg struck out six over seven innings, while Victor Flores was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in one inning.
