July 27 2017 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the White Sands Pupfish 5-3 in 11 innings. Trinidad scored once in the first inning, added runs in the fourth and seventh, and broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the 11th. White Sands answered with a run in the sixth and two in the eighth but could not complete the comeback.
Aaron Sheaks led the Pupfish offense by going 5-for-5.
Colton Wolfe went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, while Trinidad’s
Eric Ferguson drove in two runs and collected a double.
Kenneth Fudge added a home run and an RBI for the Triggers, and
Justin Busekrus contributed a triple and an RBI.
Cody Strayer earned the win for Trinidad after allowing three hits and striking out four in two scoreless innings.
Thomas Nelson also threw a scoreless inning with one strikeout to finish the game.
Chris Stout took the loss for White Sands, surrendering two runs on three hits in one inning.
Trinidad finished with eight hits and five runs, while White Sands had 13 hits and three runs. The Triggers also drew seven walks and struck out 16 times, and the Pupfish drew two walks while recording 11 strikeouts.
