July 4 2017 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 6-2 at Central Park. Trinidad scored once in the third and fourth innings before both teams added two runs in the sixth, giving the Triggers a 4-2 lead. Trinidad added two more runs in the eighth and held Santa Fe scoreless over the final three innings.
Kyle Rodriguez led Trinidad with three hits in four at-bats, scoring twice and driving in one run.
Jordan Van Atta went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Patrick Llewellyn drove in two runs.
Justin Busekrus provided the key power with a home run and two RBI. Trinidad finished with 12 hits, while Santa Fe collected seven.
Cody Strayer earned the win after allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
Matt Picucci followed with two scoreless innings, and
David Gates recorded the save with two-thirds of a scoreless inning.

Ed Brandsema took the loss despite striking out six over seven innings. He allowed 10 hits and four earned runs while walking three.
Matt Elko pitched the eighth inning and allowed two runs as Trinidad extended its lead.
