June 15 2013 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Taos Blizzard 3-2 at Kokernot Field. Alpine scored twice in the fourth inning and added the winning run in the eighth after Taos had pulled even with one run in the fifth and another in the sixth. Alpine finished with four hits while Taos collected 10.
J. Carranza provided Alpine’s biggest offensive blow with a three-run home run and three RBIs. E. Herman went 1-for-2 with a walk and scored once, while T. Rost and D. Johnson also recorded hits. Taos was led by C. Costantino’s 2-for-2 performance, while B. Springfield, R. Sonberg, K. Richardson, C. Coffman, B. May, L. Gonzalez, A. Loftin and J. Martinez each added a hit.
Alpine’s
Scott Hartling earned the win after allowing two hits and striking out two in two scoreless innings. M. Elwood worked 4.2 innings and allowed five hits and one earned run, while S. Kistler and Y. Sakama also pitched in relief. Taos starter E. Van Gaver allowed one hit and two runs in four innings, and A. Gonzalez took the loss after recording one out in relief. Taos committed one error and Alpine committed two.
