May 26 2012 The Roswell Invaders scored 20 runs over the first four innings and cruised to a 21-4 victory over the Las Cruces Vaqueros. Roswell finished with 24 hits, including home runs by Wes Kartch and Josh Cakebread, while Las Cruces collected nine hits in the loss.
Roswell broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the second inning and erupted for nine runs in the third. The Invaders added five more runs in the fourth to take a 17-2 lead. They also scored once in the sixth and seventh innings before adding two runs in the ninth. Las Cruces scored its other runs in the second sixth and ninth innings.
Kartch went 4-for-5 with four runs and four RBI, while Josh Cakebread had three hits, four runs and three RBI. AJ Morris added two hits, five RBI and two doubles, and Adam Kam went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. Gabe Torres scored three times and had three hits. For Las Cruces, Logan Lotti recorded four hits, including a triple and a home run, and scored twice.
Nathan Johnson earned the win after allowing three earned runs on eight hits in eight innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Eric Berkowitz pitched the ninth for Roswell. Jason Daniels took the loss for Las Cruces after giving up 13 hits and 12 runs in three innings, while Justin Yackee was charged with five runs in one-third of an inning.
