Ruidoso Osos Defeat Alpine Cowboys 9-6

August 8 2011 The Ruidoso Osos defeated the Alpine Cowboys 9-6 at Kokernot Field on August 8 2011. Ruidoso scored three times in the first inning, answered Alpine’s four-run fourth with a five-run fifth, and added an insurance run in the eighth. Alpine scored once in the seventh and once in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Joel Carranza led Ruidoso with two hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Jonathan Means went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Kip Masuda collected two hits, including two doubles, and drove in a run. Ruidoso finished with eight hits and nine runs, with Carranza and Means accounting for seven RBI.

Edgar Correa earned the win after allowing five hits and four runs over six innings, with one earned run, six walks and four strikeouts. Andrew Plotkin worked the final three innings for the save, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three. Alpine’s Tyler Hicks had two hits, including two doubles, and three RBI. Scott Shimek took the loss after surrendering eight runs, six earned, on six hits in five innings.
