July 16 2011 The Ruidoso Osos defeated the Alpine Cowboys 7-6 at Whites Mountain Park. Ruidoso collected nine hits and played error-free baseball, while Alpine finished with eight hits and one error.
Ruidoso built a 3-0 lead in the third inning and added two runs in the fourth. Alpine answered with four runs in the fourth to take the lead, but the Osos scored once in the sixth and once in the seventh to secure the victory. Alpine scored twice in the sixth but could not regain the lead.
Case Rigby powered Ruidoso with a home run and three RBIs, while Drew Peterson and J. Carranza each drove in a run. Kip Masuda added two hits, a run and an RBI, and Carranza doubled. Alpine’s David Valesente went 1-for-2 with three RBIs, Zach Welch went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Javier Arrieta scored twice and drove in a run.
Mike Devito earned the win for Ruidoso after allowing no runs and no hits in one inning, with one walk. Thomas Meager took the loss for Alpine despite allowing one run in 1.1 innings; Kevin Foeman started for the Cowboys and allowed six runs on six hits in five innings.
