July 14 2011 The Ruidoso Osos defeated the Alpine Cowboys 10-0 behind a complete-game shutout from Chris Welborn. Ruidoso finished with 13 hits while Alpine collected seven.
Ruidoso scored twice in the first inning, added a run in the third and two more in the fifth before breaking the game open with five runs in the seventh. J. Carranza delivered the biggest offensive performance, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored and five RBI. Case Rigby went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs and two RBI, while Kip Masuda added two hits.
Welborn earned the win on July 14 2011 by allowing seven hits and four walks while striking out three over nine scoreless innings. He threw 100 pitches, 66 for strikes. Scott Shimek took the loss for Alpine after allowing eight earned runs on nine hits with four walks and three strikeouts in six innings.
Alpines Kyle Wells recorded three hits in the shutout loss, while Tyler Hicks added two hits. Ruidoso also turned three double plays in support of Welborn.
