Douglas Diablos Rally Past Roswell Invaders 8-7

June 23 2014 The Douglas Diablos defeated the Roswell Invaders 8-7 in a back-and-forth game. Douglas collected 12 hits and overcame an early 5-1 deficit after Roswell scored five times in the first inning. The Diablos answered with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth before adding two in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Roswell pulled even with two runs in the sixth, but Douglas regained the lead in the eighth and held on. The Invaders finished with nine hits and also scored in the first inning, while Douglas committed three errors compared with none for Roswell.

Roswell catcher M. Kerns led the offense with two hits and four RBI. Jeff Eubanks added two hits, including a double and a triple, while Andrew Arp drove in two runs. For Douglas, Ray Roman scored twice and had two hits, Logan Lotti hit a home run and drove in a run, and Anyelo Roman hit a home run and finished with two RBI. Ryan DiMascio and C. Matthews also had two hits apiece.

Ryan Pitt earned the win for Douglas after allowing one hit and no runs in 3.1 innings, with one walk and three strikeouts. Ebert Rosario started and allowed eight hits and seven runs in 5.2 innings, though only two runs were earned. Roswell starter Ernie Zaragoza worked eight innings, surrendering 11 hits and seven earned runs while striking out five, and C. Dunn allowed the winning run without recording an out.
