Pacifics Open Season with Dominant 14-0 Victory Over Austin Weirdos

The San Rafael Pacifics opened their 2026 campaign in impressive fashion on May 21, blanking the Austin Weirdos 14-0 at Albert Park. Behind a two-hit shutout from four Pacifics pitchers and a relentless 16-hit offensive attack, San Rafael cruised to its first win of the season.

San Rafael wasted little time getting on the board when Kyle Guerra launched a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Pacifics then broke the game open with a six-run second inning and added three more runs in the third to build a commanding 10-0 advantage. Austin never recovered as the Pacifics continued to apply pressure throughout the evening.

Guerra led the offensive explosion, going 4-for-6 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Cal Zemaitis was equally impressive, collecting four hits and two RBIs while scoring twice. Aki Buckson added three hits, while Payton Rios contributed two hits as San Rafael pounded out 16 hits on the night.

On the mound, Alex Valesak earned the season-opening victory with six scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits while striking out nine Austin hitters. The Pacifics bullpen of Kyle Deering, Riley Houghtby, and Antoine Valerio completed the shutout, combining for three hitless innings. San Rafael pitchers struck out 11 Weirdos batters and limited Austin to just two hits all game.
