Flycatchers Roll Past Weirdos 10-1

July 25 2024 The Blackwell Flycatchers scored 10 unanswered runs after Austin took an early lead and defeated the Austin Weirdos 10-1. Austin scored once in the first inning, but Blackwell answered with five runs in the second, added another in the fourth and broke the game open with four runs in the eighth. Blackwell finished with nine hits and no errors while Austin had one hit and committed four errors.

Designated hitter D. Martinez went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run for Blackwell. C. Pfafman collected three hits including a double and drove in two runs. J. Dice went 2-for-5 with two RBI and hit his 16th home run of the season while D. Pisano added a double and an RBI. Jack Skantze scored twice and reached base three times with a hit and two walks.

Alex Jacobs earned the win for Blackwell after allowing one run on one hit in six innings while striking out 12 and walking none. Brendan Moran followed with a scoreless inning and three strikeouts and Ismael DeLosSantos and D. Martin each worked a scoreless inning. Austin starter Jacob Strobel took the loss after allowing 10 runs on nine hits in eight innings with five earned runs five walks and eight strikeouts.
