Fuego Overwhelm Bills in 29-12 Victory

July 21 2024 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Pecos Bills 29-12 in a high-scoring game at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe finished with 18 hits and no errors, while Pecos collected 20 hits but committed five errors.

Santa Fe broke open the game with an 18-run third inning after scoring twice in the first and once in the second. The Fuego added seven runs in the sixth and finished with one in the seventh. Robert Starr went 4-for-4 with three runs and eight RBI, including a home run, while Dominic Scotti drove in six runs and hit two home runs. Rodney Scarver and Jeremy DiBartolomeo each scored four runs, and Tristan Cavazos added two hits and three runs.

Daniel Benavidez earned the win for Santa Fe after allowing 16 hits and 10 runs in five innings, with one walk and two strikeouts. S. Moore worked the final two innings, surrendering four hits and two runs while striking out three. Estefano Zabulata took the loss for Pecos after allowing three runs in two innings.

Pecos was led by Jorge Peralta and S. Polanco, who each had four RBI. Peralta went 3-for-5 with three runs and a home run, J. Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with three runs and a home run, and Polanco went 4-for-4 with two runs and a home run. Luke Smith also collected four hits and scored twice.
