Santa Fe Fuego Rally Past Austin Weirdos 12-11

July 13 2024 The Santa Fe Fuego rallied past the Austin Weirdos 12-11 at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe overcame an eight-run fourth inning by Austin with a six-run seventh and a three-run ninth to secure the victory. The Fuego finished with 14 hits while Austin collected 12; Santa Fe committed one error and Austin made two.

Jorge Carreo led Austin with three hits in five at-bats, scored three runs, drove in two and hit a home run. Marcos Cabrera added two hits and an RBI, while Donnell Scott contributed an RBI and two runs batted in. Austin scored once in the second and third innings, eight times in the fourth and once in the ninth.

Santa Fe was powered by T. Starrs five-hit performance in five at-bats. Starr scored twice, drove in three runs and recorded a double, triple and home run. Chris Bueno added a home run and three RBI in a pinch-hitting appearance, while Tristan Cavazos went 3-for-5 with a double and scored once. Zeke Hass scored twice and drove in a run. Santa Fe scored once in the second, twice in the third, six times in the seventh and three times in the ninth.

Mateo Fergurson earned the win for Santa Fe after allowing four hits and one earned run in 5.1 innings, with two walks and three strikeouts. Steven Lebron was charged with nine earned runs on eight hits in 3.2 innings. Austin starter Zachary Malone struck out nine and allowed three earned runs on eight hits in six innings, while Sergio Mendoza took the loss after surrendering three runs in two innings.
