Tucson Outlasts Roswell 20-18

June 16 2024 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Roswell Invaders 20-18 in a high-scoring game at Joe Bauman. Tucson collected 20 hits and Roswell finished with 14, while the teams combined for 10 errors and 38 runs.

Tucson broke the game open with a 10-run third inning after scoring twice in each of the first two innings. The Saguaros added three runs in the fifth two in the sixth and one in the eighth to build a 20-15 lead. Roswell scored five times in the first four runs in the sixth and five in the seventh before pushing across three runs in the ninth.

Mike Whalen led Tucson with three hits five RBI and two runs. Kirk Trahan went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs while Zach Campbell had three hits four runs three walks and one RBI. Wata Kumagai and Gavy Perez-Torres each added three and two hits respectively. Tucson also hit five home runs with Trahan hitting two and Sam Plash and Whalen each hitting one alongside Joe Burchs home run.

Lucas Scott paced Roswell with three hits and four RBI and Sabastian Velez also collected three hits and four RBI. Jose Sanchez scored four runs and drove in two. Burch earned the win after allowing eight hits and six runs five earned over five innings with seven strikeouts. Alex Bolton took the loss after surrendering 10 hits and 10 runs nine earned in 2.1 innings.
