July 21 2023 The Roswell Invaders defeated the Austin Weirdos 11-7 at Joe Bauman Park. Roswell collected 12 hits and overcame two errors, while Austin finished with 11 hits and no errors.
Roswell broke through with five runs in the third inning after two scoreless frames. The Invaders added a run in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the eighth to build an 11-2 advantage. Austin scored three runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth, but Roswell held on for the win.
Jaden Burns led Roswell with four hits and three RBI.
Robert Morosetti scored three runs and drove in two, while
Tom Shirai had two hits, two runs and two RBI.
Seth Schroeder and
Dillan Smith each added two hits, and Schroeder drove in a run. Austins
Darius Simple went 3-for-5 with a home run and an RBI, while
Josh Walker had two hits and an RBI.
Alex Bolton earned the win for Roswell after allowing nine hits and five runs in seven innings, with three earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts.
Armando Ceballo worked a scoreless eighth with one strikeout, and
Jesus Rosario finished the game. Austin starter
Markell Reyes took the loss after allowing 12 hits and 11 earned runs in eight innings while striking out eight and walking 10.
