Santa Fe Fuego Defeat Blackwell Flycatchers 10-5

July 21 2023 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Blackwell Flycatchers 10-5 at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe scored five runs in the first inning, added single runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to build an 8-1 lead. Blackwell answered with two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth, but the Fuego held on for the win.

Phillip Buckingham led Santa Fe with three hits and three runs, while Parker DePasquale added two hits and scored twice. Rafael Ramirez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two walks, and Karl Koeper had two hits, including a home run, with two runs and one RBI. Jared Fry drove in two runs, and Ben Osborne added one RBI.

Blackwell collected nine hits, led by Jeff Fripp’s 2-for-4 performance with two RBI and Kurt Trotter’s two hits. Cameron Phillips and CJ Mervilus each hit a home run for the Flycatchers. Santa Fe starter Marty Carnahan earned the win after allowing six hits and three runs, two earned, in 7.2 innings while striking out 13. Shimon Kozamawa finished the game, and Bryce Holmes took the loss after surrendering six runs, four earned, in three innings.
