June 10 2023 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Roswell Invaders 8-3 at Kino Stadium. Tucson finished with nine hits and no errors while Roswell had eight hits and committed three errors.
Roswell took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but Tucson answered with two runs in the bottom half. The Invaders tied the game with two runs in the fifth, only for the Saguaros to score once in the bottom of the inning. Tucson then broke the game open with four runs in the sixth and added another run in the seventh to take an 8-3 lead.
Kevin Strachan led Tucson with two hits and two RBI, while
BJ Minarcin also had two hits and drove in one run.
Kirkland Trahan and
JuJuan Franklin each contributed two RBI, and
Madison Santos scored three runs after drawing three walks. Roswells
Seth Schroeder went 3-for-4 with two runs, and
Dillan Smith added two RBI.
Jaymon Cervantes earned the win after allowing three runs on five hits in five innings while striking out six and walking four.
Jackson Smith,
Daulton Montagna,
Alex Friesen and
Tyler Cornett combined to hold Roswell scoreless over the final four innings.
Edgar Martinez took the loss for Roswell despite striking out seven in five innings; he allowed three runs on three hits with five walks.
