June 6 2023 The Vallejo Seaweed scored three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Monterey Amberjacks 14-13 in a high-scoring game. Vallejo collected 13 hits and overcame an early 8-0 deficit after Monterey scored eight times in the first inning. Monterey finished with 14 hits and led 13-11 entering the bottom of the ninth before Vallejo completed the comeback.
Sean Jackson went 2-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI for Vallejo.
Mickey Nunes had two hits three RBI and three walks while
Caleb Natov added a home run and three RBI.
Ike Brown contributed three hits and two RBI, and
Kiryn Smith-Coleman scored twice. For Monterey,
Joshua Rodriguez went 3-for-6 with three RBI,
Robert Malone had two hits two RBI and three runs scored, and
Sean Bennett scored three times while drawing four walks.
Vallejo scored four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the eighth before its ninth-inning rally.
Kyle Kotecki earned the win after allowing two hits and four runs in 1.1 innings, and
Quentin Oexner recorded the save with two-thirds of an inning.
Tavon Gibbs held Monterey to one run on three hits over five innings, while
Matt Palmer was charged with the loss after allowing three runs without recording an out.
