July 25 2022 The San Rafael Pacifics defeated the Santa Cruz Seaweed 24-10 after building an early lead and pulling away with an 11-run sixth inning. San Rafael scored four runs in the first, three in the second and six in the third to take a 13-0 advantage before Santa Cruz answered with four runs in the sixth. The Pacifics added 11 in the sixth and finished with 24 runs on 16 hits. Both teams committed three errors.
Beau Dorman led San Rafael with four hits, five runs and nine RBI in six at-bats. He hit his 13th home run of the season. Jonathan Waite added three hits, one run and six RBI, including his 13th homer, while John Bicos went 3-for-6 with three runs and four RBI and hit his eighth home run. Evan Bacani scored five runs and collected four hits, and Tyson Thompson reached base four times with one hit and three walks.
Santa Cruz also recorded 16 hits. Joseph Nunn Jr. went 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI, while Kairee Tekra had three hits. Nick Giambalvo hit his seventh home run and drove in a run, and Ron Jackson contributed two RBI. The Seaweed scored four runs in the seventh and four more in the ninth but could not overcome the early deficit.
Mark Dozier earned the win for San Rafael after allowing one hit and no runs with three strikeouts in three innings. Kohto Hasegawa added two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Nick Fay took the loss for Santa Cruz, surrendering nine hits and 13 runs, 12 earned, in 2.2 innings while walking eight. Dillon Ponce held San Rafael scoreless over 1.1 innings and struck out three.
