Roswell Invaders Defeat Weimar Hormigas 7-4

July 13 2022 The Roswell Invaders defeated the Weimar Hormigas 7-4 after scoring in four of the first seven innings. Roswell answered Weimar’s one-run first with two runs in the fourth, added two in the fifth and scored twice more in the seventh to build a 7-2 lead. Weimar scored twice in the eighth but could not complete the comeback.

Juan Montes led Roswell’s 10-hit attack by going 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs, one RBI and two walks. Lance Myers added two hits and two runs, while Dillan Smith went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jarod Sprinkle contributed a hit, a run and an RBI. Sean Bennett paced Weimar with a 2-for-4 performance, and Jacob Banda added a hit and an RBI.

Sprinkle earned the win after allowing three hits and two runs over six innings while striking out six and walking two. Christopher Guzman followed with two innings, allowing one hit and two unearned runs, and Jonathan Fleckenstein recorded the save with a perfect ninth inning and three strikeouts. Weimar starter Brett Shartzer took the loss after giving up eight hits and five runs four earned in six innings with five walks and one strikeout.
