Santa Fe Fuego Hold Off Trinidad Triggers 17-14

July 3 2022 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Trinidad Triggers 17-14 in a high-scoring contest. Santa Fe finished with 12 hits and four errors, while Trinidad collected 16 hits and committed one error.

Santa Fe built an early advantage with three runs in the first inning, then added two in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth to lead 10-8 after four innings. The Fuego scored three more in the sixth and four in the eighth to secure the win. Trinidad answered with seven runs in the second, four in the fifth and two in the seventh but could not complete the comeback.

Manny Cachora scored five runs and drove in two for Santa Fe, while Jared Gay went 3-for-5 with four RBI and hit two home runs. Parker DePasquale also homered and drove in two, and Phil Buckingham added two RBI. Trinidads Adam Purdy went 3-for-6 with three RBI and two home runs, while Peter Bocchino and Nick Sciubba each drove in two runs.

Phil Buckingham earned the win after throwing a scoreless inning with one walk, and Jared Gay recorded the save with a scoreless inning. Joel Ballard took the loss for Trinidad after allowing four runs on three hits and two walks while recording one out. The teams combined for 31 runs and 28 hits.
