Alpine Cowboys Pull Away Late to Beat Roswell Invaders 8-5

July 2 2022 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Roswell Invaders 8-5 at Joe Bauman Park. Alpine collected 11 hits and scored in five innings, while Roswell finished with eight hits in the loss.

Alpine took control with a three-run second inning after Roswell scored once in the first. The Cowboys added single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, then secured the victory with two runs in the ninth. Roswell briefly tied the game at 5-5 with a two-run sixth inning, but Alpine held the Invaders scoreless over the final three innings.

James Prockish went 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI for Alpine. Manny Garcia was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Mark Traylor and Buzz Shirley each collected two hits. Andrew Capone, Colin Johnson and Shirley also drove in runs. Traylor recorded Alpines only extra-base hit with a double, and Garcia added a triple.

Jonathan Triesler earned the win after allowing five hits and two runs, one earned, in three innings while striking out three. Ryan Greco worked the first five innings, surrendering three runs, two earned, on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Alejandro Amezquita earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning. Roswell starter Jarod Sprinkle took the loss despite striking out seven in seven innings; he allowed nine hits and six runs, two earned.
