Santa Fe Fuego Rally Past Roswell Invaders 8-7

June 1 2022 The Santa Fe Fuego rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Roswell Invaders 8-7 at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe overcame a 7-5 deficit after Roswell scored four times in the seventh inning, then secured the win with its late comeback. The Fuego finished with 13 hits and one error, while Roswell also collected 13 hits and committed two errors.

Juan Montes led Roswell with three hits, three RBI and a home run. Dillan Smith also had three hits and scored twice, while Matt Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and one RBI. Roswell opened the scoring in the first inning and added single runs in the fourth and fifth before its four-run seventh put the Invaders ahead.

Santa Fe received two hits and two RBI from Jesus Chavez, who hit a home run, while Declan Peterson and Tyler Carpenter each drove in two runs. Carpenter also homered, and Drake Ayala and Manny Cachora each contributed two hits. The Fuego scored twice in the second, added runs in the fourth and fifth, and answered Roswells seventh-inning surge with one run before its decisive three-run ninth.

Brenton Thomas earned the win for Santa Fe after allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. Matt Sanchez worked six innings, giving up eight hits and three earned runs with seven strikeouts, and Luke Poselovic added 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Roswell starter Anthony Moore struck out seven while allowing seven hits and four earned runs in five innings. Jonathan Fleckenstein took the loss despite allowing only one earned run over 3.2 innings, striking out five.
