Tucson Saguaros Hold Off Roswell Invaders 10-7

July 17 2021 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Roswell Invaders 10-7 after jumping to a 6-0 lead in the first inning at Amphi High School. Tucson finished with 11 hits, while Roswell collected nine. The Saguaros added two runs in the third and two more in the eighth to secure the win.

Nick Hamilton powered Tucson’s offense with two home runs, two hits, two runs and six RBI. Danny Kerr added three RBI, while Gabe Wurtz went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Kokko Figueiredo scored twice, and Rod Dobbs scored twice for the Saguaros.

Roswell answered with three runs in the second inning and two in the third before adding two more in the seventh. Jakob Schuler went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a walk. Hunter Hill and Greg Carrington also drove in two runs apiece, while Bret Leiferman had two hits and scored twice.

Tyler Rumbaugh earned the win for Tucson after allowing seven runs, five earned, on nine hits in 6.2 innings. He struck out eight and walked two. Blake Garrett worked a scoreless ninth for the save. Carter Coats took the loss for Roswell after surrendering eight runs on eight hits in four innings.
