Alpine Cowboys Roll Past Roswell Invaders 20-10

June 8 2021 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Roswell Invaders 20-10 at Kokernot Field, overcoming a 10-hit performance by Roswell with 24 hits of their own. Alpine scored in seven innings, including seven runs in the second, six in the sixth and four in the seventh, while Roswell’s biggest innings were a four-run fifth and a three-run ninth.

Calvin Graves led Alpine’s offensive attack by going 4-for-5 with three runs, five RBI and a home run. Alex Westman added five hits and three runs in six at-bats, while James Prockish went 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBI. Chandler Hughes, Andrew Fregia, Bryce Donovan, Sam Dreistadt and Dylan Nolan each drove in at least one run, and Alpine finished with three doubles from Nolan, two from Westman and three from Prockish.

Roswell received a four-RBI performance from Cole Chambers, who hit a home run, and Bret Leiferman drove in three runs while adding two doubles. Hunter Hill contributed two hits and two RBI, while Lance Myers scored three runs after reaching base four times.

Alejandro Amezquita earned the win for Alpine after allowing two hits and no runs in 3.1 innings, striking out three and walking two. Ian Concevitch worked 4.2 innings and surrendered seven runs, six earned, while Jonathan Triesler allowed three runs in one inning. Roswell starter Cody Strayer took the loss after giving up 19 hits and 18 runs, 17 earned, in six innings; R. Brown pitched two innings of relief and allowed two runs.
