Roswell Invaders Outslug Salina Stockade 20-17

July 31 2020 The Roswell Invaders defeated the Salina Stockade 20-17 in a high-scoring contest. Roswell collected 14 hits and overcame Salina’s 18-hit attack, scoring in five innings and ending the game with a five-run seventh inning. Salina scored three runs in the first, five in the third, five in the fifth and two in the sixth before adding one in the ninth.

Roswell took control with five runs in the second and an eight-run fourth inning. Taichi Nakamura went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, a double and two walks, while Ausar Rankin also went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI and two walks. Coleton Horner added three hits, including two doubles, and drove in six runs. Tyler Schmidt contributed two hits, two runs and one RBI.

Salina was led by Hudson Bilodeau, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI and a double. Lance Myers scored four runs and drove in two, while Eddie Grimaldo, E. Geraci and Khalyd Cox each recorded two RBI. Salina’s 18 hits included doubles by Bilodeau, Alex Nielson and Cox.

Jonathan Fleckenstein earned the win for Roswell after allowing five hits and two earned runs in four innings, striking out four and walking five. Matthew Fountain took the loss for Salina, surrendering four runs on two hits in one-third of an inning. Roswell’s Tyler Schmidt worked three innings and allowed five earned runs while striking out three, and Salina’s Trevor Wick was charged with eight earned runs in two innings.
