7/20/2013-ERA matches Standings in the Pecos League

When you analyze the Stats in the Pecos League you are often amazed at one side the offensive numbers are. The Roswell Invaders set the all time Pecos League Regular Season wins record. When you look closely at the Invaders you will notice two interesting facts.

#1 The Invaders were dead last in stolen bases and stolen base attempts the Invaders only stole 77 bases on 97 attempts

#2 The Invaders have a team ERA of 4.64 which is unbelievable for Pecos League Standings, this is the lowest Team ERA in league History. This is also how the team was a 50 win team.

But one thing is baseball at any level from MLB to the Pecos League teams with the lowest ERA will be in first place almost every time.

At the MLB Level currently the top 5 Teams in Team ERA as follows:

  • Pittsburgh 3.09
  • Atlanta 3.30
  • St Louis 3.42
  • Cincinnati 3.42
  • Washington 3.57
All of these are National League Teams that are either in first or second place in their respective division. The Pecos League is no different. The current four playoff teams are the four teams with the lowest team ERAs. 2013 Pecos League Team ERAs

  • Trinidad 5.79
  • Alpine 5.82
  • White Sands 6.10
