1/22/2013-Former White Sands Pupfish Pitcher Chris Smith signed a contract with the New York Yankees where he will join their minor league system. Smith pitched in White Sands under Keith Essary in 2011. He spent the 2012 season with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League. He also pitched for the Brisbane Bandits in the Australian Baseball League where he made the All Star Team.
