11/16/2012 Trinidad Triggers Name Alex Ferguson Assistant Manager

Alex Ferguson, 32, Head Baseball coach at Principia College (Illinois), has joined the Trinidad Triggers' staff as Assistant Manager. The Triggers operate in Trinidad, Colorado, as one of ten teams in the independent Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs, which has teams in Colorado, New Mexico,and Texas. Ferguson has been head baseball coach at Principia since July 2011. Prior to that, he was Head Baseball Coach and Adjunct Instructor of Sports Management at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He has a B.A. in Sports Management and an M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning – Health, Physical Education, and Coaching.

In addition to his head coaching experience, Ferguson has served as an instructor/coach for the Tom Urquhart School of Baseball in Overland Park, Kansas, Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Northern State University, as well as several other baseball positions. During college, he worked in the Athletic Department at the University of Kansas, where his duties included working on the grounds crew that maintained the baseball field.

“I am extremely pleased to have Alex on the Triggers’ staff,” said JD Droddy, Triggers’ Director of Baseball Operations and Field Manager. “He brings a great deal of experience and knowledge, along with a high level of maturity, which make him particularly qualified for the position. He appointment has already paid off, as through his efforts, the Triggers have already landed some outstanding talent from the Midwest.”
