Munoz time in Alamogordo
Ernie Munoz has been named the 2013 Field Manager for the White Sands Pupfish. The Offensive MVP of the inaugural Pecos League season replaces Justin Lowery, and was widely regarded as a fan favorite his 2 seasons as a player in Alamogordo. He will bring the same energy to the dugout as he did on the field, along with much needed leadership, purpose, and a sense of direction. Ernie is very familiar with the town, the Pupfish fans, the media, and City officials so the transition period will be quick and smooth. He is also very familiar with current and past Pecos league players and coaches, which will give him an advantage in scouting and devising line ups to face our opponents. His connections with the California college ranks and Independent leagues will also give him a leg up in assembling a team.
White Sands fans should be pleased with his familiarity with the inner workings of the league and expect the team to get off to a quick start. The best aspect that ensures success, is that Mr. Munoz wants to be here in Alamogordo. It is his desire to win a championship for the fans and community, saying that Alamogordo is a great place with great people. He truly appreciates his time here in the past, and being a part of something special. The Pupfish were establishing a dominant team that just fell short 2011 and Ernie wants to come back and finish the job.
Excitement for baseball will return to the community and the attendance should rise. All in all, not only is this a great move for the White Sands franchise but the league as a whole. The rising tide will "lift all boats".
