11/5/2012-The Pecos League will continue exhibition games with the New Mexico School of Baseball. The Las Cruces based team is in its 10th year and now has players from all over the entire state of New Mexico. "Playing against the Pecos League in Exhibition Games in their home towns is a challange and a dream for our players. It is the highlight of our season." says New Mexico School of Baseball Head Coach and president Darrell Carillo.
The New Mexico School of Baseball Team will not play in Colorado or Texas only against the six New Mexico Teams. They will play each of the six teams two games each on their off days. Including for the first time a game at historic Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe. They will also play two day games in Taos. Several New Mexico School of Baseball College Players have went on to play in the Pecos League after their college careers were over.
The Series with the New Mexico School of Baseball started in 2010 when the Las Cruces Vaqueros played two games against the New Mexico College League in front of sold out crowds in Apodoca Park.
"It is very hard for Darrell to find opponents to play for his team and these ten games will help him alot. It gives our teams a chance to evaulate players in games that don't count in standings. It is great for New Mexico Baseball all the way around. They have beaten our teams twice before and our fans enjoy the games."
