9/26/2012-Gears are in motion in Taos to bring baseball to Taos for the 2013 season. The Pecos League and Taos began working on this project in the Fall of 2011 so much of the groundwork has been layed. The Taos Blizzard as the team would be called would be immediate rivals of both Santa Fe and Trinidad.

Taos would play 22 home games, mainly Sunday games and host a series against Las Cruces and possibly Roswell. They would not have to provide hotels for Trinidad or Santa Fe.

The Blizzard would play 48 road games including almost against Southern Teams. Andrew Dunn of the Pecos League says: "The Location for Taos is ideal obviously for Trinidad and Santa Fe. Lower travel distances removes costly summer hotels and travel budgets. A lighter schedule in their inaugural year takes alot of the risk out for the league and the team. It also gives Santa Fe, Trinidad and Las Cruces the additional home games that they otherwise wouldn't get. We can also use alot of the same game day staff from Santa Fe to run the games. "

The Town of Taos will finalize a lease that will have the Blizzard in Spring Training on May 5. There are no field conflicts with usage with Taos building a secondary baseball field at their middle school. Marty Realmy and Justin Lea will be the driving force behind getting this deal finalized in Taos which could happen as soon as October 15.

The Pecos League will go with either 6-8 teams for the 2013 season. Roswell and Pecos are the two teams with the most questions. Roswell is attempting to move to NMMI, Pecos has to move their outfield fence and install additional lighting.
