6/23/2012- The Pecos League is at the 1/2 way point with Roswell Invaders again in first place. The biggest surprise in the league has been the Las Cruces Vaqueros who are 1.5 games out of first place at 20-14. The biggest disapointment has been the White Sands Pupfish who are 15-21 and would not make the playoffs if the season ended today. The Pupfish have really struggled against Alpine and Las Cruces this season. The Pupfish have reloaded their pitching staff and could be prepared to make a strong 2nd half run. Everyone predicted the Santa Fe Fuego would be buried out of contention and they are. They have showed signs that they can compete on given nights, but usually not back to back nights. The Trinidad Triggers are a very interesting team they have a solid lineup a new coach in Ryan Powell but must add pitching to sustain a playoff run. The Alpine Cowboys have been the most consistant team with great pitching, defense and hitting. The Cowboys would be a huge surprise if they didn't make the playoffs. Defense and pitching haven't been well at all in the first half of the season. With the exception of Roswell and Alpine all teams are looking for pitching help at the midway point.
