6/22/2012-The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs has recently received several media inquires about the situation of the Carlsbad Bats. In 2010 the Pecos League attempted to play in Carlsbad New Mexico. After several meetings Carlsbad ISD did not allow the Bats to play at their field Caveman Corral. The head baseball coach at the time had full power and did not allow the league to play there. The Pecos League had a team in 2011 called the Carlsbad Bats that was a travel team. The team only played three home games in Carlsbad and the rest on the road. The Pecos League attempted to land back in Carlsbad for the 2012 season but after meetings with the city mayor it was etermined that beer would not be able to be sold at the Caveman Corral or Lea Street Park. That ended any possiblity of having a pro team occupy Carlsbad, New Mexico. If something changes with the processes or leaders that represent the city of Carlsbad, then the Pecos League would be happy to meet with and discuss options of playing in Carlsbad. Until then there will be no baseball in Carlsbad.
