5/27/2012-5/26/2012-The Las Cruces Vaqueros were hammered 21-4 on Saturday Night by the Roswell Invaders. Vaqueros announcer Steve Sitter was called from the press box to pitch the 5th and 6th inning for the Vaqueros. Sitter was an All American Division II pitcher who arrived in Las Cruces with intentions of being used in the bullpen. He did not make the team in Spring Training and instead of leaving he applied for the announcer's position. He was a Broadcast Journalism Major and got the job. He has been announcing all of the Vaqueros games this season. For the 2nd night in a row the Vaqueros starters got hammered leaving huge holes in the bullpen. Sitter allowed one earned run and was the only Vaqueros pitcher to throw a scoreless inning. It was the only thing Vaqueros fans had to cheer about on the evening. After Sitter was removed from the game he resumed his announcing in the press box. The Vaqueros have acquired Derek Johnson from the Gary Railcats of the American Association. The Vaqueros are still in process of improving their pitching staff. Roswell's Nate Johnson had no problems pitching 8 innings allowing only three runs.
